The first step to overcoming an addiction is to admit that you have an addiction and my addiction is geeky t-shirts from those t-shirt a day sites that sell great shirts for dirt cheap.  It is not an addiction I really want to overcome but it is either that or convert my basement into a giant closet for all of my geeky t-shirts because I have outgrown my bedroom closet.

While I am trying to cut back on the number of shirts I buy, there are shirts like the one below that are absolutely necessary for me to own.

If you have been reading Global Geek News for any length of time, you probably know I am a HUGE fan of the geeky artwork by Megan Lara and generally buy any shirt with her artwork on it.  Well, now there is another shirt I am going to be buying that I think any Doctor Who fan will love!

The geeky people over at TeeFury are selling this Doctor Who themed Amy Pond: The Girl Who Waited t-shirt today only for just $11!  The shirt is one of a series of similar Doctor Who shirts designed by Megan Lara and Omega Man 5000 and I think this one is my favorite (I have all of the others).  The t-shirt comes in either black, cream or dark chocolate (brown).

I haven’t decided which color shirt I am going to get as I normally prefer black since it usually makes the designs stand out a little better but since it is summer time and black isn’t exactly a cool color, I am debating choosing one of the other colors because nearly all of my shirts are already black and something cooler would be nice for the summer.  Which color are you going to get?  Let me know in the comments below!

Its not very often you see mash-ups between Star Trek and Star Wars despite the number of fans that love both.  I’m not quite sure why that is because I often see people combine one of those franchises with something else like Doctor Who or even Space Invaders but I have a feeling it has to do with the Star Wars vs Star Trek mentality.  I know a lot of geeks like to have that debate but I tend to be one of those can’t we all just get along kind of people.  I think if there was less fighting and more baking, we would have more awesome Star Trek and Star Wars mash-up cookies like the ones below!

Star Trek and Star Wars fan Klickitat Street is the creator of these delicious looking cookies that combine Star Wars with the cast of Star Trek: The Original Series.  No matter which franchise you prefer (I’m a Star Trek person myself although I enjoy both depending on my mood), you can’t deny how cute and utterly awesome these cookies are!

It should be pretty obvious by now that I am somewhat obsessed with geeky cakes.  I think by now I have posted a cake from pretty much every franchise beloved by geeks from Super Mario Bros to Star Trek yet I still get excited whenever I see a new one.  In the past, I have posted a ton of great Doctor Who wedding cakes that generally featured the TARDIS, Daleks or other Whovian favorites like Weeping Angels.  Well, this Doctor Who wedding cake is a bit different in that I don’t think there is a single element of it that has ever showed up in a cake I previously posted.

The fantastic Doctor Who wedding cake in the picture below features the infamous crack, the 4th Doctors scarf, a bunch of Gallifreyan writing and even the Master’s pocket watch!

Sadly, the Facebook fan page that I found this on as well as many other Doctor Who related things I post seems to refuse to give credit to the original creators of anything they post so I have no idea who created this cake.  If you know who created it and who the happy couple was that had this cake for their wedding, let us know in the comments below so we can give them credit!

In the past, I have posted some really cool Doctor Who cakes including a Dalek cake that might be mistaken for a real Dalek and even Matt Smith’s 30th birthday TARDIS cake.  However, as cool as those both are as well as the many other Doctor Who cakes I have posted, I think this Cyberman cake reigns supreme.

This Cyberman cake looks like it could be a kid that was converted into a real Cyberman!

Unfortunately, I don’t know who this lady is to give her credit for this amazing Cyberman cake creation so if any of you know who she is, please let us know in the comments below because she definitely deserves credit for making such a fantastic cake!

I would definitely say this Cyberman cake blows the previous Cyberman cake that I posted right out of the time vortex.

I wish somebody would make me a cake like this!  I don’t have a wish to be deleted, I just love Doctor Who!

If you have ever had a Doctor Who cake made for you (or a geeky cake of any kind for that matter), let us know in the comments and share some pictures with us.

Like many geeks, I have occasionally dreamed of sleeping on a space ship while traveling from one part of the galaxy to another but sadly I don’t think that dream is ever going to come true (unless I get chosen for that Mars One mission).  However, there are some people that go beyond just dreaming about that idea and they actually create a space ship bed to try to satisfy that dream.

In the past, I have posted a couple of really cool and geeky beds including a Star Wars Millennium Falcon bed as well as a Star Wars Landspeeder Bed.  Well, it looks like a Whovian decided to pursue this dream as well and built a fold down bed hiding inside of the TARDIS!

A man in New Zealand (sadly I don’t know his name to give him credit so if you do know him, please let us know in the comments below so we can give him the credit he deserves) decided to make this TARDIS that has a fold down bed inside for his son!  Perhaps the most clever part is that on the bottom of the bed is a picture of the inside of the TARDIS so when the bed isn’t down but the TARDIS doors are still open, you can see the inside of the TARDIS!

The level of detail on this TARDIS bed is quite impressive.  The snow on the TARDIS is a very nice touch!  Congrats to the kid who got this bed from his dad.

I wish this was my bed!  Having a fold up bed would be rather nice just because space in my bedroom is at a premium (small bedroom).

A much as I enjoy traditional art such as music painting, I think my favorite modern art medium is lattes.  Geeky latte art never fails to bring a smile to my face.  While some is better looking than others, I still appreciate the work that geeks put into these awesome beverages.  In the past, I have posted a ton (you can find them all by searching for latte art on the right) of latte art such as the mind blowing TARDIS latte art I posted back in September, but now we can add Daleks to the list of cool latte art creations.

This spectacular Dalek latte art was created by DeviantART user Coffee-Katie who created this at Caffe di Angeli in Fort Worth, Texas.  I might not be a latte drinker (I’m not a fan of hot beverages) but if I am ever in Fort Worth, I am definitely stopping there to get a Dalek latte!

It never ceases to amaze me the kind of effort that steampunk fans will go through to create an amazing work of steampunk art.  If you just search for steampunk in the search box on the right, you will know what I mean.  Well, we have yet another incredible piece of steampunk art that comes from the Star Wars universe this time and it might be one of my all time favorite pieces of steampunk art!

A Star Wars loving steampunk fan named Mark created this amazing steampunk AT-AT for his fiance Caroline L.  I’d say she is one lucky gal!

The amount of detail on this machine known as Captain Bayley’s Infernal Mechano-Perambulator is quite impressive.  Apparently all of the rivets on this steampunk AT-AT were so tiny that they had to be applied with tweezers.  I bet this took a lot of time to make, especially with how well the paint is done.  I think the seaweed around the feet is a nice touch too!

In the past, I have featured a crapton (that is the technical term) of Star Wars wedding cakes.  However, until now, I don’t think I have ever posted one that was made to resemble the Battle of Hoth.  Most Star Wars wedding cakes I come across seem to be Millennium Falcon cakes so it was a breath of fresh air when I saw this Hoth cake!  It is almost enough to make you want to get married.  Almost.

Unfortunately, I don’t know who made this awesome Star Wars Battle of Hoth cake or who the happy couple is that had this for their wedding day so if anybody knows, please let us know in the comments below so they can get the credit and congratulations they deserve!

Now I am hungry for cake and feel like watching Star Wars.  I can take care of the second part myself but I think I am going to need one of you to make me a cake as my baking skills are non-existent.  Any volunteers?

Whether you are giving a presentation or just playing with your cat, laser pointers are a great thing to have around.  It has been several years since I have done any presentations so my laser pointers are just cat toys at this point.  Unfortunately, my laser pointer isn’t very geeky as it is some mechanical thing that moves itself for when I am too lazy to actually play with my cat and slightly resembles a bowling pin.  However, now I can get even more enjoyment out of using a laser pointer with this Darth Vader lightsaber laser pointer!

The awesome folks over at ThinkGeek are currently selling this awesome Star Wars Darth Vader lightsaber laser pointer for just $8.99 (40% off from the normal $14.99).  Also, if you find a few other things on ThinkGeek that you like, you can get $10 off on an order of $60 or more thru April 19th with the coupon code “APRILONEIL“.

If you are a Star Wars fan with a cat or just a lot of presentations to do, you really need this lightsaber laser pointer!  Perhaps the best part is that it can hang on your keychain so you never have to worry about leaving home with it.
