RIM buys Dash Navigation
Jun 4th
Greetings Readers!
RIM (Research in Motion) has acquired Dash Express, makers of the Dash GPS unit. While details have not been disclosed, I am very excited for this acquisition. I have been a very proud Dash owner for over a year and I couldn’t be happier with the device. While they unfortunately no longer make the Dash GPS, it was an amazing device and the first GPS with an internet connection to get current traffic information, search the internet for locations and even be able to Twitter thanks to an add-on! I don’t know how much longer I have on my service but it is still well over a year I am sure.
While my current Blackberry (7100i) has a GPS client on it, it is nowhere near as good as my Dash unit. If RIM can integrate the Dash software into their phones, it would be a game changer in my opinion. RIM picked up a great property in my opinion and I can’t wait to see what wonderful things come out of this purchase!
