Death Star Cupcakes

Everyday, I struggle with my love for food and my desire not to need to buy a closet worth of bigger clothes.  Sometimes one side wins, sometimes the other side wins.  I’m not quite sure which side is the dark side in this never ending battle, but if they have these Death Star cupcakes, I’d join it!

Its not very often that I eat cupcakes, maybe just a couple times a year, but I really wish that the ones I ate looked like these awesome Death Star cupcakes instead of just having a swirl of frosting on top.  I love it when bakers take the time to do something cool with their tasty creations.

Speaking of bakers to take pride in their work, these delicious looking chocolate Death Star cupcakes were made by Stuffed Cakes.  I’m not sure if these were made for some sort of Star Wars marathon viewing party or what, but I think they would go great for any occasion.  Well, maybe not for Princess Leia’s birthday, but if I was her and these were presented to me on my birthday, I’d be willing to forgive and forget.  Hmm, it seems I value food over a planet and all the life it contains.  Maybe I do have a problem.  Oh well, I can cut back on my food consumption when I’m dead.

There is nothing that makes me feel like a waste of oxygen quite like seeing some kid a lot younger than me building something far more amazing than I could ever even dream of building.  The guy below is perhaps the perfect example of this because this kid has accomplished more with cardboard by the time he is 20 than I have with anything at the age of 26.  On the bright side, I’m sure that this guy has probably had a hundred times more papercuts than I ever will so I guess I have that going for me.

Taiwan cardboard artist Kai-Xiang Xhong is the 20 year old genius behind this incredible life size Iron Man armor made out of cardboard.  It took him a year to complete this masterpiece and after a quick paint job, I’d say even Tony Stark would wear it!

Of course his works of art don’t stop there, check out the video below the pictures to see some of the other things he has created ranging from a cardboard dragon to a life size T-Rex skull made of cardboard.  This guy is seriously talented with cardboard!

Even though I can’t play an instrument, being a huge metalhead, I still enjoy seeing really cool custom guitars.  I’ve posted a ton of custom guitars in the past including a Koopa Troopa electric guitar, a stunning Halo guitar and even a Lord of the Rings acoustic guitar and I think the C-3PO guitar below might be among my favorites.  In fact, if you combined this C-3PO guitar with this Millennium Falcon bass, you would have the start of one kickass Star Wars band!  On a slightly related note, I highly recommend checking out this metal version of the Imperial March by Epica (my all time favorite band).  Anyway, back to this C-3PO electric guitar.

Etsy seller RAINY DAY INSTRUMENTS is selling this really cool electric C-3PO Star Wars guitar for $465.  The neck is made of Behringer maple and the C-3PO part of this guitar comes from some collectors case which can still open and even talks!

If you are a musically talented Star Wars fan, I suspect this might just be the electric guitar for you!  If you do buy it, make sure to send us a video of you playing it because I would love to hear how it sounds.

If there is one thing I hate, it is walking around barefoot.  I’ve never cared much for the sensation but it really annoys me when I am walking barefoot and something sticks to my feet or I step on a rock or sticker or something sharp and painful like that (I’ve stepped on a broken beer bottle before and having glass in your foot is not as fun as it might sound).  So, when I am not wearing my steel-toed tennis shoes (I’m rather clumsy and tend to run into a lot of doors, walls, tables, and such so they are necessary), I am at least walking around in my slippers.  And while I do like the slippers that I have, they aren’t half as cool as these amazing Doctor Who K-9 slippers!

The super nerdy folks over at ThinkGeek are selling these awesome Doctor Who K-9 slippers for just $29.99!  These would be perfect for those days when you are laying around the house having a Doctor Who marathon.

However, one thing to note is that these are apparently only for women as they list the S/M size for womens sizes 5-7 and the L/XL for sizes 8-10.  I suppose a guy could wear them but I have no idea how the shoe sizes between men and women compare to know which one to buy.  So, if you are a lady Whovian, you are set but if you are a guy, you will need to do some shoe size conversion to figure out if these are going to be able to fit you.

In the past, I have seen and posted about people don’t some really cool stuff with stained glass but never with glass rods.  Honestly, I don’t think I realized that glass rods were even a thing until I saw this picture below.  However, I think this might just be cooler than all of those stained glass things I have posted in the past if for no other reason than this is 3D!

Reddit user LizWrong spent around 24 hours over two weeks making this incredible 2′ tall R2-D2 out of bent and welded glass rods.  I’d say it was time well spent because I think it turned out amazing!  This is definitely the glass droid I haven’t been looking for!

I wish I had the knowledge and skills to do something like this.  Heck, I didn’t even know you could weld glass until I saw LizWrong’s description of it.  I can now say I have learned something new today!

If you like to play with glass and make geeky things like this, let us know in the comments below and we might feature some of your work!

Whovians seem to have rather strong opinions about the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special as I have seen many who loved it and perhaps equally as many who didn’t.  Personally, I rather enjoyed it although I will admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of David Tennant’s hair as it almost made him look like a completely different person and I would have loved to see some interaction between him and Billie Piper instead of just her interacting with John Hurt.  Otherwise, I rather enjoyed it.  However, I think I may enjoy this mashup even more than the Day of the Doctor special!

Somebody has gone through and cut up the Day of the Doctor 50th anniversary Doctor Who special and made it up like the opening credits of the sitcom Friends (one of my all time favorite shows which I still watch every night before I go to sleep).  Between the friends style font, The Rembrandt’s “I’ll Be There For You” and the choice of Doctor Who shots, I think this is quite awesome.  I know I would be there for the Doctor!
