If I ever get around to cleaning all of the crap out of my basement, I’d like to put in a nice home theater setup.  Of course as long as we celebrate Christmas at my house, I don’t see that happening since half the basement is filled with Christmas decorations but a guy can dream.  Speaking of people with dreams of an amazing home theater setup, one guy spent $120,000 to convert his basement into the Batcave which is made up of mostly a really nice Batcave home theater.

Chris Weir is the Batman fanatic in the video below that spent 2 years and $120k building a Batcave in the basement.  While I am definitely impressed with the 120″ screen, nice seats, cave walls crafted out of foam and the Dark Knight batsuit, I think my favorite part of this setup is the entrance.

Being a huge fan of the Batman series from the 60s, the idea of recreating the entrance to the batcave with a bookshelf that opens after you push a button under Shakespear’s head is awesome.

Something tells me that if this guy ever decides to sell this house, he is going to have no trouble at all selling it to some rich Batman fan.  Maybe one day I will be able to afford to do something this cool at my house.  Until then, I can dream.

It never ceases to amaze me the kind of effort that steampunk fans will go through to create an amazing work of steampunk art.  If you just search for steampunk in the search box on the right, you will know what I mean.  Well, we have yet another incredible piece of steampunk art that comes from the Star Wars universe this time and it might be one of my all time favorite pieces of steampunk art!

A Star Wars loving steampunk fan named Mark created this amazing steampunk AT-AT for his fiance Caroline L.  I’d say she is one lucky gal!

The amount of detail on this machine known as Captain Bayley’s Infernal Mechano-Perambulator is quite impressive.  Apparently all of the rivets on this steampunk AT-AT were so tiny that they had to be applied with tweezers.  I bet this took a lot of time to make, especially with how well the paint is done.  I think the seaweed around the feet is a nice touch too!

In the past, I have featured a crapton (that is the technical term) of Star Wars wedding cakes.  However, until now, I don’t think I have ever posted one that was made to resemble the Battle of Hoth.  Most Star Wars wedding cakes I come across seem to be Millennium Falcon cakes so it was a breath of fresh air when I saw this Hoth cake!  It is almost enough to make you want to get married.  Almost.

Unfortunately, I don’t know who made this awesome Star Wars Battle of Hoth cake or who the happy couple is that had this for their wedding day so if anybody knows, please let us know in the comments below so they can get the credit and congratulations they deserve!

Now I am hungry for cake and feel like watching Star Wars.  I can take care of the second part myself but I think I am going to need one of you to make me a cake as my baking skills are non-existent.  Any volunteers?

As much as I love shooters and other types of video games, I am an RTS player at heart.  While I spend most of my gaming time these days playing Age of Empires Online and maybe some Age of Empires II HD, my favorite series of RTS games growing up was Command & Conquer.  You could say that my love for them made me the blogger I am today because it was my passion for them that got me into writing because I decided to contribute to many of the C&C fan sites more than a decade ago.

Well, speaking of Command and Conquer, I came across these amazing wooden Command and Conquer coasters that one fan has made.  The set of coasters shows the GDI and NOD logos and they turned out looking amazing!

These were created by wtmh and sadly they aren’t for sale (I already tried contacting him to buy them) but if EA gives the ok, he will make more and sell them.  If he is able to make more and sell them, I will definitely let you guys know because I know there are other C&C fans that read Global Geek News that would kill to have a set of these GDI and NOD coasters!

Thanks to my job, I get to see all kinds of interesting modifications people make to their cars.  Around here nobody really goes too crazy with modifications outside of a fancy stereo or really expensive wheels on a car that is probably only worth what it weighs in scrap metal.  Sadly, nobody does anything near as cool as these people did when they turned an old Subaru into a Jurassic Park car!

Friends of imgur user cjswan (I don’t know the owners name to give them credit) had access to a 33 year old Subaru and decided to paint it to look just like the tour car in Jurassic Park.

I don’t know how much time and money was spent to turn this old Subaru into a Jurassic Park car but it was worth every bit of it.  While I have no desire to own a 33 year old Subaru, I would love to have this car!  If you want to see some pictures of the transformation of this car into a Jurassic Park car, check out the gallery to see a ton of more pictures.

Some of my fondest memories as a kid were spent dropping quarters in the local arcade and whatever random machines local restaurants had set up for customers to play while they were waiting for their food.  While I loved playing pinball machines, I never played them as much as other games simply because they were more expensive and when you only had a couple dollars in quarters or at best a roll of quarters to spend, you had to spend them wisely to get the most bang for your buck.

However, until today, I have never seen a Duck Hunt pinball machine which seems like an almost obvious idea.  I don’t think there could be a better combination of a NES game and a pinball machine.

This custom, one-of-a-kind Duck Hunt pinball machine was created by skit-b pinball and I would say they did an amazing job!  I wish I had the skills necessary to build my own pinball machine like this.  I would give anything to have a Duck Hunt pinball machine set up in my basement.

I highly recommend checking out the video below that gives a bit of a walkthrough and shows the machine in action.

Whether you are giving a presentation or just playing with your cat, laser pointers are a great thing to have around.  It has been several years since I have done any presentations so my laser pointers are just cat toys at this point.  Unfortunately, my laser pointer isn’t very geeky as it is some mechanical thing that moves itself for when I am too lazy to actually play with my cat and slightly resembles a bowling pin.  However, now I can get even more enjoyment out of using a laser pointer with this Darth Vader lightsaber laser pointer!

The awesome folks over at ThinkGeek are currently selling this awesome Star Wars Darth Vader lightsaber laser pointer for just $8.99 (40% off from the normal $14.99).  Also, if you find a few other things on ThinkGeek that you like, you can get $10 off on an order of $60 or more thru April 19th with the coupon code “APRILONEIL“.

If you are a Star Wars fan with a cat or just a lot of presentations to do, you really need this lightsaber laser pointer!  Perhaps the best part is that it can hang on your keychain so you never have to worry about leaving home with it.

Unlike the rest of the world which seems to run on coffee, it has never been something I have cared for.  The taste has never been my favorite but my real issue with it is that I just can’t stand hot beverages.  Anything approaching room temperature or warmer is no-go territory for me.  However, even though I may not drink it, apparently Daleks are a big fan of the caffeine!

Unfortunately, I’m not sure who took this picture or what coffee shop this is at (if you know, please let us know in the comments below so we can give them credit), but whoever made this is pretty awesome!  As a Doctor Who fan, something like this would definitely get me to buy from a restaurant a lot more often.

The next time you go into a coffee shop, tell the barista “CAFFEINATE!” in your best Dalek voice and see what kind of reaction you get.  I am curious to know if it scores anybody some free drinks.

Wood burning stoves can be a great thing.  Whether you are using them to cook your food or heat your house, they can come in handy on occasion.  I haven’t used mine in years but that is simply because I dread cleaning the basement out enough that I can start using it again.  However, if I had a Bender wood burning stove like this one, I would be using it all the time!

This spectacular Futurama inspired Bender wood burning stove was built by Rob Halftroll.  Apparently it took him about three weeks to create this awesome 5.5′ tall Bender stove.  If you thought Bender had an evil side before, just wait until you check out the video of this stove in action below and see the fire in his belly!  The only thing that would make this cooler is if the smoke was coming out the cigar although I fear the cigar wouldn’t be big enough to handle all of the smoke.

Having seen a number of case mod competitions over the years as well as all of the ones I have posted that I have just stumbled across, I am no stranger to amazing pc mods.  However, I think this steampunk case mod might just be the greatest pc case mod I have ever seen!

A couple of years ago, I posted a spectacular steampunk desk and computer mod that I find to be one of the most impressive steampunk creations I have ever seen.  Well, now we have a new king of steampunk computer case mods with this incredible one below that isn’t just a case mod but also a steampunk keyboard, monitor and more!

Reddit user CodyOdi built this amazing Steampunk pc mod which looks like the ultimate machine for playing Bioshock Infinite! I love how he went the extra mile and gave his keyboard, monitor and even speakers a steampunk overhaul.  I officially give this guy the title of God of Steampunk!

For those curious what the case originally looked like before the steampunk mod, I have posted a picture of the original case below the finished project pictures.
