Its not too often that I get to post about geeky fingernail art so when I saw this, I knew I had to post it.  I’m not sure I like it more than the Angry Birds fingernail polish job that I posted a while back but this is still pretty awesome, especially if you are a Mario Kart fan.  As much as I have always loved various Mario Kart games, the Rainbow Road level was always the level I hated most.  I had a hard time keeping from flying off into space with the tight turns.  Did you like the Rainbow Road Mario Kart level?  Let us know in the comments!

When I find some geeky food creations to post on here, they are usually various baked goods like cakes and cupcakes.  Today, we have the Star Wars Death Star made out of a watermelon.  I would definitely prefer to look at this over eating it or at least until it started to rot.  I used to love watermelon as a kid but I don’t know if something about them has changed or I have changed, but I can’t stand the aftertaste now.  Anybody else like this?  Anyway, we need to see more geeky creations make out of watermelon!

There have been many times where I have wondered just what people are thinking when they get their tattoos.  Usually that is because they are ugly, oddly placed or just completely random.  In this case, it is because it is just so bizarre.  There are a lot of geeky things that I can think of that you might want to tattoo on your body but a Windows BSOD is not one of them.  The only thing this blue screen of death tattoo is missing is the blue part.  I have this feeling that this was a drunken mistake but hopefully I am wrong.

Sadly, I don’t have my own desk at work, so I don’t really have anything I can decorate to look cool and really geeky outside of my own house.  Well, somebody that at least has a cubicle decided to that they would show their love for Super Mario Bros by decorating their cubicle with a ton of Super Mario Bros characters.  Everything from Bowser to Shy Guy is on this desk.  Having seen how gave developers tend to decorate their offices, I can’t say I am horribly impressed by this but it is still pretty cool, especially if you are a Super Mario Bros fan.

Since it is Star Wars Day, I figured one more Star Wars related post wouldn’t hurt.  Actually, it would be pretty cool!  I’m not sure where you can find this amazing Star Wars graffiti, but when it comes to my all time favorite graffiti art, it might just top the list.  In the past, I’ve posted some Star Wars AT-AT and AT-ST graffiti art or street art as some may call it but those can’t compare to this picture.  I wish I knew how long it took to make this amazing piece of Star Wars street art.  It took some serious talent to make this!  If you have seen any geeky graffiti art like this that you think we should post about, let us know in the comments!

Mousetrap Nuclear Fission Demonstration

Mousetrap Nuclear Fission Demonstration

I’ve understood how nuclear fission works for years but I have never seen such a cool demonstration of how it works like this demonstration with mousetraps and ping pong balls.  The demonstration in the video below was created by some people at Harvard University to explain how nuclear fission works.  Below is a description of the demonstration followed by the amazing video of the demonstration from multiple angles and in slow motion.

In a nuclear reactor or atom bomb, a fissile material such as 235U can capture a neutron. The resulting unstable nucleus fragments into two smaller nuclei, releasing energy and several neutrons (a typical equation is given below). Each of these neutrons can in turn cause the fission of a 235U nucleus. If there is above a critical concentration of fissile material, this chain reaction will continue unaided, and if unregulated, can result in a very loud bang.

We have a 120 × 70 × 100cm high plexiglass case, onto whose base we set a 5 × 20 array of mouse traps. 1 Onto each trap is rested a ping-pong ball. The traps represent the fissile atoms, and the balls the neutrons. When an extra ping-pong ball is dropped through a hole in the top of the case, it lands on an triggers a trap. Now there are two ping-pong balls each capable of setting off a trap. Thus a chain reaction ensues; the whole explosion lasts about three seconds.

I’ve never had any desire to paint anything on my face but that is probably because I see no reason to hide something this good looking.  I do enjoy when people do an amazing job of painting up their faces though.  In this case, some guy decided to paint his face to make it look like Spider-man was having a disagreement with Wolverine.  I’m not sure if the guy was talented enough that he painted this on his own face or if somebody else made this work of art but it is really impressive!  Check out the pictures below!  Have you ever painted something cool on your face?  Let us know in the comments!

Happy Star Wars Day everybody!  A couple of weeks ago, one of my twitter followers (@MandiWoodruff) sent me a picture of a little Star Wars themed street begging she did I believe last year that I knew I had to share with you guys.  Check it out below!  How are you celebrating Star Wars day?  Going to work in a Princess Leia gold bikini?  Building your own R2-D2 ultimate game console like we posted yesterday?  Let us know what your plans are in the comments!  Thanks to @MandiWoodruff for passing this photo along!

Battlestar Galactica (2004 TV series)

Like many millions, I am a HUGE Battlestar Galactica fan, so when I saw this interview with Katte Sackhoff (Starbuck), I knew I had to post it.  In this 7 minute video, she talks about what the vipers were really like on the set and what it was like to ‘pilot’ one of them.  The experience sounds pretty miserable to me.  Since I am not a fan of hot temperatures, I’m glad I wasn’t the one in them.  Perhaps the coolest part of the interview is her playing with a $1500 viper model that is pretty awesome.  I think it is safe to say that I want it!  Check out the video below!
