I’ve always thought that if I had to have a big wedding, it should be a theme wedding of some sort.  If I can find a woman that would go for it, I would love to have a Klingon wedding.  Although, after seeing the Star Wars themed wedding below, I could probably be persuaded to go with a Star Wars theme.  I would do mine a little different though in that Darth Vader would be the one presiding over my wedding.  Anyway, below is a picture from the wedding of Dale and Nadia in Australia.  Not only were those involved in the wedding dressed up, but apparently there were even some Jawas among the guests as well as other Star Wars characters.  R2-D2 was even the ring bearer apparently!  Hit up the source link below for more details and a ton of pictures including a Jabba the Hutt cake!

With the space shuttle program about to come to an end with the finial mission for the Space Shuttle Atlantis, I figured this would be the perfect time to post this awesome astronaut and Space Shuttle Atlantis wedding cake!  I have to say, I am really sad to see the shuttle program end because I have always loved watching the launches and landings all of my life.  Unfortunately, I have never made it down to see the shuttle launch but I’m hoping to score tickets for the final shuttle launch although I figure my odds of getting them are pretty low since every space nut in the world will be trying to get tickets.  I guess I can always stare at this awesome cake of Atlantis on the shuttle crawler with two astronauts standing in front of it although I think that might just make me hungry more than anything.

Are you a Star Trek fan that wishes everybody would live long and prosper?  Then this would be the Vulcan salute USB flash drive for you!  It may seem a tad expensive at $35.99 for a 2GB USB flash drive from Audiocubes but it would be illogical for any Vulcan fan not to purchase one of these awesome Vulcan salute drives!  I’ve long been a fan of the Vulcan salute myself.  When I gave my valedictorian speech at my high school graduation, I ended it with the Vulcan salute and by saying ‘Live long and prosper!’  And no, I am not kidding!  I’m sure my family has video of it somewhere but the odds of me getting it converted from VHS tape into a digital format so I can post on here are probably zero but you never know!  Live long and prosper!

One thing that really annoyed me as a kid was the stupid dog that would mock me when I missed the ducks when I played Duck Hunt.  Perhaps if the NES Zapper gun/controller looked more like the one in the picture below, that dog wouldn’t have been laughing so hard.  As cool as the picture is below, it is just a drawing of what a mashup between the NES Zapper and the Gears of War Lancer gun would look like rather than something somebody has actually built.  If anybody decides to take this as inspiration and build one, let us know in the comments!

Do you ever get the craving for chocolate when you are looking at your keyboard?  Neither do I, but apparently somebody had that craving because they decided to make themselves a keyboard out of white chocolate.  It looks good enough to eat to me!  Too bad you can’t buy this white chocolate keyboard anywhere.  I guess that means I will just have to stick with my Hersey’s Cookies and Cream chocolate bunnies that I have left over from Easter.  If there is one thing that Easter is good for, it is to increase the size of my candy pile.

It always brings a smile to my face when I can post a geeky cake on Global Geek News, especially when they look awesome.  Well, this cake…takes the cake when it comes to looking awesome.  This Mario Kart wedding cake is the best looking cake I think I have ever posted on here or at least it is in my opinion.  The detail on this cake is absolutely stunning and it truly looks too good to eat.  I find it kind of humorous that Mario has to stand on top of a question box to be able to kiss Princess Peach.  On the slim chance I ever get married, I want a cake that looks this awesome and hopefully tastes just as good!

First, I posted the awesome Millennium Falcon bed, then the Y-Wing bunk bed and now, the Star Wars Landspeeder bed!  Notice a theme here?  I like geeky beds.

This Star Wars Landspeeder bed is awesome!  Especially when you take into consideration the R2-D2 in the bed and the Stormtrooper hovering over you.  Like the previous Star Wars beds, I expect that owning a bed this awesome will probably reduce your odds of getting laid in it but I would say that being able to sleep in something this cool every night would make up for that loss.   Sadly, this bed isn’t as fast as the real thing but perhaps it can take you to dreamland at light speed!

I’ve never had any desire to decorate my ears in any fashion but if I ever got hit in the head hard enough to change my mind about that, I would definitely go with these awesome NES game cartridge earrings.  This post is probably more for our female audience which makes up about half of the readers on Global Geek News.  For $20 on Lauren Swingle’s Etsy store, you can order these awesome NES game cartridge earrings!  The earrings are hand-made out of polymer clay for those that are curious.  Perhaps the best part is that you can specify the games you want when you check out!  At least you shouldn’t have to blow on these Nintendo games to make them work!

Award Winning Portal Skit

Award Winning Portal Skit

Portal in real life was bound to happen eventually and I’m not talking about the sideways caution wet floor sign that looks like it is from Portal that I posted a while ago or the Portal crosswalk button signs I posted not long ago either.  I’m talking about some theater type group making an award winning skit based on the Portal game.  The skit that you can watch in the video below won the “Most Dramatic” award at the Fanime 2011 Masquerade.  They did a great job with it!  The choreography couldn’t have been easy to pull off so convincingly although there were a couple small movements that weren’t quite right.  Any Portal fan will love this though!

Ruby - The Rubik's Cube Solving Robot

Ruby - The Rubik's Cube Solving Robot

It never ceases to amaze me the awesome things that college students build.  Usually those awesome creations come out of schools like MIT, but in this case we are talking about some students at Swinburne University of Technology.  These students created Ruby, a Rubik’s Cube solving robot.  Perhaps the most impressive thing is that it can scan and solve a fully scrambled Rubik’s Cube in about 10 seconds.  Only about 4 seconds slower than the human record.  Sadly, I have never solved one so I am forced to say that this robot is better than I am.  Check out the awesome video below of Ruby in action!
